Getting Pretty Curious with EDF Energy

Hey everyone,

My first blog post in 2018 is about something very exciting. Today I'm going to talk to you about a very important topic for every teenager choosing a career.

How many times have you heard "is that really what you want to be in the future?" or "I don't think it's a good career for a girl"? While I was desperately trying to choose a future career and what subjects to study in school, I often heard this. Thankfully, it doesn't really affect me because I choose to be who I want to be, not what anyone else wants me to be. If I want to study maths- I will, because I like it.

There are so many girls who like STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) but don't choose to study it in school because the society thinks it's not for girls, even though it would be a perfect career for them. That's why when EDF Energy shared their  PrettyCurious campaign  with me, I was more than happy to write about it on my blog. It is such a great campaign which, I'm sure, will help lots of girls.

So, what is the aim of this campaign? It is focused on raising awareness of the under-representation of the girls in STEM. It also gives girls an opportunity to see what the work in this sphere looks like and many other interesting options.

You can read some really inspiring interviews here with different women who work in different STEM roles and have achieved unbelievable things, such as Roma Agrawal - an engineer and the designer of the famous Shard building!

To be honest, after reading it, I felt so inspired - like I can achieve whatever I want no matter what!
If you want to find out more about these women and to experience their day in 360º, don't forget to click here, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

One interesting thing that might be very helpful for those who haven't yet decided on their future job, is a
quiz which suggests an ideal future career according to your interests. You can also get creative and make your own avatar where you can "see yourself" working in the STEM sphere. Because if you imagine, you can make it happen.

That is what I got:

I hope that you are interested in this campaign as much as I am. You can choose any career you want, the whole world is full of different opportunities so study and work where you like.
So, don't forget to check out the EDF Energy #PrettyCurious campaign for more information.
Let me know in the comments which activity you liked the most!

Have a nice day,

I am OK

  1. This is so inspiring! I can't tell you how many times I've heard I can't work somewhere because I'm a girl, like that's a valid reason. What a great campaign! I hope it encourages more girls to follow their passions and work in the STEM sphere.
